The Wattmiser drive system may be applied to a wide variety of loads including variable torque loads such as centrifugal pumps and blowers and constant torque loads such as belt conveyors. Wattmiser drives are available in catalog sizes from 50 to 2,000 HP, but other ratings may be quoted on request. Primary motor voltages of 230, 460, 2,300 and 4,000 volts are readily available where appropriate for the particular motor size. Secondary voltages are specified by Marathon to match the control requirements. On retrofit applications the control is matched to the existing secondary voltage. Where variable flow pumping or variable air volume is required, adjustable speed drives offer substantial energy savings over the use of throttling valves or damper controls. (Fig 3) Adjustable speed drives should always be considered for new installation having these requirements. Retrofit of adjustable speed drives to existing installations can often be justified on the basis of cost savings and fast payback. The standard Wattmiser speed range is 50% to 98% of motor rated full load speed. As an option, the Wattmiser may be supplied for full speed range (consult factory). |
